ABOUT SCOTTS
The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company was founded in Marysville, OH, shortly after the Civil War (1868) by O.M. Scott as a general store for local area farmers. In the early 1900s, the Company began selling grass seed to homeowners, and in the late 1920s, Turf Builder lawn fertilizer was introduced. Another significant milestone was the 1995 merger of Scotts, the leading lawn care brand, with Miracle-Gro, the leading gardening brand, to create The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. This expansion continued in 1998, with the acquisition of Ortho®, the leading brand of gardening pesticides, and the formation of a partnership with Monsanto to market the herbicide Roundup® to consumers.
Today, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company (NYSE: SMG) is the world's largest marketer of branded consumer lawn and garden products.
